Acco (Acre in English) is a fascinating city. It is an ancient city, as you can see from the architecture pictured. It has been home to Jews, Christians, Muslims and Bahai.
Acco is one of several cities in Israel where people of many religions and ethnicities live side by side peacefully. That is not to say that there has never been conflict between the Arab and Jewish population. In 2021, there were riots that at times felt like a war was going to start! But for the most part, Acco is a city of coexistence. Many of the Arab citizens of Israel living in cities like Acco identify themselves as Palestinian Arab Israeli citizens. Yet still, uninterrupted daily life and friendly interactions are the norm.
