Jake Burkons’ trip to The Dead Sea and Ein Gedi
We took a trip to the beautiful Judean desert. It is truly one of the most beautiful places I have seen. It is also one of the most hot!!!
The Dead Sea is the lowest lake in the entire world, which makes it one of the hottest places. The salt levels in the Dead Sea are so high, you can smell the sulfur everywhere and you can float on the water effortlessly.
Nearby is an amazing hike to several natural springs called Ein Gedi. The hike is long and hot, but the fresh water springs are an amazing relief when you reach them.
I am not sure if many people know this, but the Dead Sea is actually shared by Israel and Jordan with a border down the middle. Jordan and Israel were at war for a long time. But they have not been for a while and there is a lot of peaceful cooperation between Israel and Jordan, and the Dead Sea is a big part of that picture.
