Jake Burkons’ trip to Jerusalem

Jake Burkons Western Wall

No trip to Israel is complete without a visit to the holiest city on earth, Jerusalem. For me, visiting the Western Wall was an unforgettable religious moment.

As is well known, Jerusalem is a holy city for Jews, Christians and Muslims. In the Old City of Jerusalem, where I am in this picture standing in front of the Western Wall, there are holy sites for all three religions. And unlike Acco, Jerusalem has been the site of some of Israel’s wars.

But what is much less known, is that walking around Jerusalem today you would barely notice that. At cafes and shopping malls and hospitals and universities throughout the city, Arabs and Jews sit side by side casually enjoying their lives.

And in the Old City of Jerusalem, Palestinians and Israelis share many of the same narrow streets.
